RHS Educators Rising Students to Compete on National Level

Ten Russellville High School students in the Educators Rising program have qualified to compete at the Educators Rising National Conference and Competition in Orlando Florida in late June.

These RHS Rising Educator students earned a spot in the state competition by qualifying at the regional level in December at ATU where they competed in various contests. The hard work continued as they headed to the Arkansas State Educators Rising Conference at ASU-Jonesboro where there were around 40 schools in attendance and over 350 competitors.

The RHS Rising Educators placed as follows:

1st Place - Sadie Hilton and Sigrid Christensen - Inside Our Schools

1st Place - Emmalei Blythe and Joy Skaggs - Ethical Dilemma

2nd Place - Emilie Young - Public Speaking

National Qualifier - Maddie Daniel and Laurel Henderson - Interactive Bulletin Board

National Qualifier - Kaytlynn Cartegena - STEM Lesson Plan

National Qualifier - Haylee Bryant - STEM Lesson Plan

National Qualifier - Kaylee Simpson - Creative Lecture/TED Talk

Dr. Paul Gray, RHS Rising Educator teacher, said “Our Rising Educators were committed to doing the hard work to make the competition projects the best possible. They worked countless hours researching, practicing, and editing. We could not have asked for more.”

"The work these students did represents everything we want to see from our young people: it is thoughtful, perceptive, and engaged with their community. We are very proud of their work and their well-deserved success," commented Mr. Matt Young, another Rising Educator teacher.

All of these students will be able to attend the conference at little to no cost due to a grant from the State and the Walton Family Foundation.

Laurel Henderson, an RHS Educators Rising Student says, “This whole experience being in Educators Rising has been amazing and taught me so much. I love getting to work with kids and watching them grow throughout the year. I am so excited to go to Nationals!"

Congratulations to these students and good luck at the Nationals Competition!

It's a great time to be a Cyclone!
