RSD Teacher Accepted into Society for Science Advocate Program

Russellville High School Teacher, Mr. Chance Duncan, has been accepted as one of 100 educators from around the country to participate in the 2023-2024 Society for Science Advocate Program. In June, Duncan will travel to Washington, D.C. to attend the Advocate Training Institute where he will begin the year-long journey of support.

On top of receiving a $3,000 stipend from the program, Mr. Duncan will be learning valuable information about participating in STEM research competitions and the how to’s for recruiting underrepresented students.

“I have been facilitating student-driven investigations in my classes for years, but I’ve never taken the initiative to try to get them involved in competitions. I am excited about the prospects the Society for Science Advocate Program will provide for these students to demonstrate their research skills and the doors it will open for them in their futures!”

Mr. Duncan has been teaching in RSD since 2017. Currently, Mr. Duncan serves as the Biology and Medical Interventions instructor at Russellville High School where he teaches Advanced Biology and Project Lead the Way’s Medical Interventions.

“We have a ridiculous amount of academic talent at RHS, and this is going to be the perfect opportunity to show it off! Our students have proven that they can do amazing investigations, far more than anything I ever did even in my undergrad years. I can’t wait to see what they achieve given the resources and support this opportunity will provide!”

Congratulations Mr. Duncan! Thank you for all you do!
