Inspired by the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown, and by the Flat Stanley Project, some Center Valley Elementary teachers have created flat, shrunken images of themselves and sent them to their students. In light of the remote learning situation, this is a way that the children can have their teachers “close by” and it encourages them to engage in a variety of activities. The children take pictures of the flat teachers joining them in work, play, or participating in any type of adventure, then they send the pictures back to their teacher or upload them to their class social media site. Flat Teachers have been seen doing everything from reading to roller-blading, enjoying snow cones and s'mores, walking dogs, and even losing teeth with their students.
