Walker breaks a 37-year-old 1600 record!
Carson Walker a 7th grader at Russellville Middle School helped lead his team to a decisive victory in the Booneville Bearcat Relays on Tuesday at Booneville High
School.
Both the RMS Track teams (girls & boys) won first place besting eight other
teams in Tuesday’s meet which was highlighted by Walker shattering the previous
mile run mark set by Former Russellville Basketball legend Marcus Thompson. Walker ran the mile in an official time of 5:01.25 topping the previous mark set
by Thompson of 5:06.7 set back in 1986.
“That record has been one we have been attempting to break for several years,” said Coach Joey Fisher. “I had messaged Marcus and told him it was about to fall and he was very encouraging and even sent Walker a congratulatory message.”
We are all so very proud of Carson and it was amazing to see all his teammates
rooting him on and cheering when he crossed the finish line. The Gales will be off for Spring break before traveling to Beebe for their next meet Monday, March 27th.
Attn Parents: ACT Aspire testing is approaching quickly. Make sure you mark your calendars from May 1st - May 5th!
