It's that time again! RMS Spirit Squad Tryouts are coming up! If you're interested tryout packets will be availed to pickup in the RMS Office on Friday, February 24th.

6th grade science students learned that:
1. The more mass something has, the greater the force of gravity pulling down on it (which can
be measured as its weight on a scale).
2. Moving air (wind) pushes (exerts a force on) matter in its path.
3. Air moving upward (updrafts) can keep an object suspended or floating in the air when the force from the molecules in that air colliding with that object counterbalances the downward force from gravity. When those forces are no longer balanced, the object that was suspended will start moving upward or downward.
This is all connected to the 6th grade science Weather, Climate, and Water Cycle unit. Students in this lesson were trying to answer “Why don’t water droplets or ice crystals fall from the clouds all the time?”
Mrs. Gallegos and her ELA students set aside 15 minutes today for independent reading. They chose books that they were interested in, read in a comfortable place, and then shared about what they read! This inspired others to read some of the books they were reading!

Our Library Media Specialist, Isabelle Luna, pulled Holocaust themed novels out for students in the library to recognize Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th. In collaboration with the library, English teacher Savannah Burden also pulled holocaust themed novels out for students in her classroom library.

6th grade science students in Mr. Daily’s class carried out investigations to explore what happens when air containing water vapor is cooled and what happens when water droplets make contact with each other.
We learned that:
1. Water molecules are attracted to each other.
2. Water droplets can grow over time as they run into other water droplets or as more molecules of water vapor condense and stick to them
This is all connected to our unit over Weather, Climate, and the Water Cycle.

Our health classes today loved our guest speaker, Tarshawn Whitehead! He came and connected with the kids and told them about the importance of preventing tobacco and vapor usage! RMS is thankful for him!
